The Inspector-General of Police, Acting IGP Suleiman Abba, has reaffirmed the support of the Nigeria Police to the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) in its anti-counterfeiting enforcement measures.
The IGP gave the assurance when a delegation of the PCN, led by its Registrar, Pharmacist Elijah Mohammed, paid him a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
While noting that the Nigeria Police have had an age-long mutually beneficial relationship with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, the IGP expressed the readiness of the Force to further strengthen its support to the Council, adding that the Police have always been willing partners to pharmacists in the fight against drug abuse and adulteration.
Earlier in his speech, the Registrar of the Council stated that the essence of the visit was to congratulate the IGP on his new appointment and further solicit the support and collaboration of the Nigeria Police in the enforcement of the Rules and Regulations guiding the operation of pharmaceutical premises and patent medicine vendors, noting that drug abuse has posed a major security threat in Nigeria.
High point of the visit was the presentation of hand sanitizer and law books of the council to the IGP.
